Macintosh image editors worth checking out:
PhotoGenetics, an amazingly different and powerful program for editing images and correcting problems that appear in digital photos. Get a 30-day trial version from http://www.photogenetics.com/.
CompuPic for the Mac, from http://www.photodex.com/downloads/platforms/mac.html. CompuPic is an amazing image thumbnailer, and I use the Linux version every day for one purpose or another. (Every other way of viewing dozens or hundreds of images in a folder seems like torture after using CompuPic. Try it and you'll agree.) You can try it for free.
NIH Image, an example of your tax dollars at work. It's from the National Institute of Mental Health and has a lot of fans. It's totally free -- well, after all, you actually paid for it already, right? -- and can be downloaded from http://rsb.info.nih.gov/nih-image/.
