The fourth annual Stars Magazine and Technofile Digital Photo Contest gave us a renewed understanding of the value of digital imagery. Images were bright and brilliant, cleverly composed and carefully chosen. Each year the photos get better, and each year we find ourselves amazed at the wealth of photographic talent in Central New York.
As we did last year, we limited entrants to a single photo each. This probably gave many of our contestants a few sleepless nights trying to decide which photo out of many to submit, but it made our task of judging entires a delight instead of a burden. (In past years, we allowed entrants to submit as many photos as they wanted to, and we had to work our way through thousands of photos to find the ones that looked the best.)
Here are the winners of the 2004 Stars/Technofile Digital Photo Contest:
Adult general: First place went to Matthew Turner of Syracuse for "Christmas Card." Second place went to Mark McLees of Syracuse for "Car Fire."
Youth 13 to 17: First place was taken by Tracy Morford of Cazenovia for "Ghost Train." Second place went to Brandy Jarmacz of Syracuse for "Playtime II."
Stylized: First place was won by Erin Coyne of Tully for "Kelly at the Hoops." Second place went to Linda Spatuzzi of Baldwinsville for "88."
